| Nicole and Greg have been separated for three years. The tragic death of their daughter Marissa and Greg's mother's interference caused a rift that may be impossible to heal. Nicole was pregnant when Greg threw her out of his life and has never met his son George. Greg is an unexpected guest at George's third birthday party and it becomes evident that he needs a father in his life and that Greg regrets his actions of so many years before. Hopefully Nicole will be able to forgive Greg, but many obstacles remain.
Ms. Hofman's stories are reminiscent of the older Harlequin books with a submissive heroine and a very alpha hero. Nicole has a little more gumption than usual and stands up for herself. I did wonder why her father left on a world cruise leaving a devastated and newly pregnant daughter, and why he was living in a castle while his daughter lived in an uninsulated summer cottage. Hiding her circumstances does not explain it. Greg is not all that likable, he has a volatile temper and his treatment of Nicole at the death of their child is neither understandable nor forgivable. Her problem is not surprising; she can't be feeling all that secure. I did like Philip and Yasmin and their lively children and George is a great little boy. The subplot of Alekos and Irene's romance highlighted Greg's mishandling of Nicole. The plot flows very smoothly and the twists and turns and good ending make the story a worthwhile read.
