| Lt. Joseph Dunn chose the infantry as his branch at West Point. He elected to go to Airborne and Ranger Schools, then volunteered to go to Viet Nam because he expected to remain a bachelor for quite a while. He didn't count on meeting and marrying his idea woman so soon. Now he's on his way to Viet Nam and an experience that will lead to memories that will last his lifetime. Of Their Own Accord by Gary E. Dolan, is an intriguing story about Charlie Rangers, 75th Infantry Airborne. It's a stark recanting of the horrors and fears that our Viet Nam Vets lived and breathed, and a sad realization of the needless loss of so many Americans. It's also an opportunity to eavesdrop on the loneliness and isolation that filled the hearts of our soldiers, and the rare opportunities they had to share laughter. Lt. Joseph Dunn served proudly with his friends and comrades, and lived to come home to his beloved Marie. In the interim, you'll have a front-row seat in battle-smelling the smells and cheering for our heros. The story has great potential, but needs some serious editing. There are 'point of view' issues that, at times, make it confusing to know who is speaking or feeling. Some of the narrative could be turned into dialogue to make the reader 'feel' more of the story rather than being 'told'. I'm sure when the final edition is ready, the story will be even more captivating. If you want to learn the jargon and read about a cast of brave and colorful characters in the story, then Of Their OwnAccord will be of great interest to you. Even with minor flaws, Gary E. Dolan, has penned an exciting and emotional read. You'll also want to visit the website that inspired the story, http://oftheirownaccord.com
