Old Town Magic by Marie Treanor is truly a fascinating love story filled with laughter, passion, and intrigue. The concept of a virus spreading to an epidemic and the pharmaceutical companies gaining control of the country was intriguing and almost frightening when you think it might be able to happen. The characters are colorful, each with their own story of survival. Catriona is married, wealthy, respectable, and very bored. She had a low self esteem from the treatment she received from her parents and her unfaithful husband. She comes alive when she goes to the Old Town where the high riskers were kept. She sees people who know how to live life to its fullest in spite of their circumstances. Magic is a man of many talents. He was a highly skilled street magician. Handsome and quiet he had an air of mysteriousness about him that attracted everyone to him. Men and women both desired to be his friend and lover. He mostly kept to himself until you needed him and he was always a friend a person could count on being there. He was instantly attracted to Catriona but he thought she could not care for a shabby street magician. Through misunderstandings there comes a love that is romantic and highly passionate. He steals the heart of this reader. It is easy to see why Catriona falls so hard for him. The sex scenes are explicitly described in delicious details that are steamy and creative. The background story of the virus and what it is about is fascinating, intriguing and adds excitement to the story. A wondrously fascinating story filled with romance, passion and the excitement of intrigue, this story is highly recommended to all readers.
