| Hannah Sinclair was twenty three when she returned to the small town she grew up in. After graduating from FSU, she returned home to her father, Reverend Michael Sinclair. She was not, however, the same woman who had cut all ties with her former life four years ago. Now she was alone, pregnant, unemployed, and devastated about the ruined relationship with her longtime boyfriend, Ben. Shortly after returning, she found out her best friend since childhood, Josh, was associate pastor at her father’s church. Not only had Hannah deserted church while in college, she had left Josh, her very best friend forever, without a word for the entire four years.
Josh was skeptical about renewing his relationship with Hannah but he had never stopped loving her. It seemed he had loved her forever. Now their friendship was blossoming even though he could tell she was keeping something from him. His life had also changed while she was gone. He had begun working with the homeless shelter, the youth group, and taking missionary trips. He had to wonder if Hannah would ever rediscover her love of God and then, possibly fit into his current lifestyle. Ms. Kristin Rodgers has written a poignant book about lost love, lost friendship, and losses unknown. The book captured my attention from the very beginning and held it until the last page. The ending was definitely not what I expected. The problems which surfaced between these characters were so realistic that it was as if I was there with them. The supporting characters were so well written. The father’s love for his daughter, as well as the inspirational aspect of the story, was emotional and mimicked God’s love for His children. The storyline revolved around church and pastors and missionaries. However, the manner in which Rodgers unveiled the story would not offend an unbeliever. It is a wonderful witness to the love of God. I loved this book and highly recommend it to everyone. It is definitely going on my keeper list.
