Cass Bellair and Ben Cameron meet while serving on a jury. They are very attracted to each other and are just starting to get to know one another when things start to go wrong. Someone steals Cass’s purse and she overhears someone in the courthouse talking that makes her think she was targeted on purpose. Then a young woman on the jury is murdered. And suddenly the man who terrorized Cass and her sister, Georgia, years ago appears on the scene and Ben knows him from college. Is everything going on related to this trial? Is Ben involved somehow? Who can Cass trust and turn to?

This is a very interesting and intriguing story. I liked the characters of Cass and Ben and wanted there to be a romance between them. Both of them seem like nice people you’d want as your neighbors. But besides there being a good romance theme running through the story with the interaction and chemistry between Cass and Ben, there is an underlying sense of unrest and danger.

There are several sinister characters that keep brushing up against Cass’s life making the reader uneasy. And then the idea that it might not be that difficult for a determined criminal to find a way to threaten someone on a jury and affect the verdict didn’t make me comfortable. These kinds of stories where the author makes a distasteful idea, like jury tampering, very plausible always make me think and wonder if there could be some truth to it, even in a fiction tale. I enjoyed One Juror Down. I found it entertaining and thought provoking. I am glad to see there is a sequel about Cass’s sister Georgia, Two on the Hunt, and her situation that is mentioned in this story. I am looking forward to reading what happens next.
