| Jilted at the altar by her husband-to-be, Dana Bradley doesn't put much faith in happy ever after anymore. Still, at midnight to welcome in the New Year, she finds herself drunk and telling a handsome man her wish for the New Year is that she wants to become pregnant.
After being shot in the line of duty, Mike Jenning's wife left him. Now though, his life seems empty until he sees Dana again at his friend's New Year celebration. When she tells him her wish for the New Year is to become pregnant, he sees her wish as something that could benefit them both because he'd too like to be a father sometime soon. I absolutely loved this story about two people that are still nursing broken hearts, but willing to come together to get what they want, which is to become parents. The plot was well-written as was the dialogue, no matter how heartbreaking it was at times because their efforts to create life were not coming true. The sex scenes were steamy, emphasising the great chemistry they shared and that even though love wasn't in their agenda, it still happened. What I loved so much about these two characters is that they were willing to risk everything to become parents, especially their hearts because it was only a matter of time before they fell in love. As for the heroine, she really impressed me with her tenacity to become a mother by accepting Mike's proposal of them hopefully having a baby together because she deserved happiness in her life. Overall, this was a superb story because not only were the main characters well-developed but so were the secondary characters who did their best to make both Mike and Dana see they were in love with the other. And now on a final note, this is a book I'd definitely recommend and has me fervent to read more stories from this author.
