A genuine extraordinarily rare motorcycle is up for auction-a handmade 1957 Mannhof, complete with artistically painted nude male on the gas tank--and Claire is determined to own it, no matter whom she must step on to do so. This one is one-owner, deeming it even more rare and valuable. Claire doesn't want the motorcycle to hide it in a museum; no, everything for Claire boils down to the raw sensuality of power, and she fully intends to ride the Mannhof, naked painting and all. She pays an enormous amount to acquire it, and once it is delivered to her home, she begins to see images in the painting that hadn't been present at the auction, and hears voices.

Claire is now the owner of more than a motorcycle, for the original Designer, Klaus Mannhof, constructed a shapeshifting machine. The motorcycle transforms at will into a male, appropriately named Will, whose biological mode has been quite well endowed by his creator, as Claire noticed in the painted image. She accepts his presence in her dream state, but when he tries to appear in her waking life, she's rather distraught, despite immediately recognising his deep voice, accent, and her own physiological reactions.

Alice Gaines delivers a tale in which the reader's suspension of disbelief is immediate, and the progress of events seems so natural. The characters of Claire and Will are appealing and empathetic; Claire is a hard-charging, strong-willed CEO who apparently has never heard of the glass ceiling, and Will is truly a gorgeous hunk, with a heart of gold. The plot is riveting and the sensuality exciting without being over the top. One Owner, Lady Driven is a true winner, the kind of short story that readers will turn to for a reread again and again with pleasure.
