Rose Daniels ran from a controlling, piously condemning father and a husband of the same nature. She ends up in Nevada and is befriended by Allen, a rich older man who sees her as something of a daughter. He helps her out right as she runs out of money. Several months later, Allen is found murdered and Rose believes her stalker is the murderer. On top of that, she learns Allen owned a brothel and left half to her on certain conditions. She must live in the brothel with his manager, the person who inherited the other half of the establishment, and learn the running of it. Living in the brothel will be bad enough, but Nathan, the manager and the man she's wanted for six months, will also be living there and teaching her the business.

Nathan, too, wants Rose but is trying to fight the sizzling attraction because of his weakness for older women. He also can't figure out if Rose is a gold digger like many of the women in Allen's life, or if she's as innocent as she seems. If she's innocent, he has no business corrupting her.

One Thing Leads to Another is an erotic tale of two people who each must overcome some parts of their past to find love with each other. The suspense plot didn't really hold much of the story. Instead, the romance and erotic scenes are the focus, and they were done amazingly well. Nathan was one of the sexiest heroes I've had the good fortune to come across. He was so overtly male and Alpha. The sex was stunningly scorching, and often full of kink. However, I could not recommend this story for the average romance reader, or even the average erotic romance reader because of some of that kink. There was a threesome involving another woman, in which Rose was the one to interact sexually with, as well as one scene of BDSM, that was neither completely hardcore nor light. I did wonder how Rose ended up so enthusiastically engaging in sex with a woman who worked in the brothel, since it seemed risky behavior even for someone trying to test her sexual boundaries, but overall, I really enjoyed this book. The sex was carnal enough to satisfy the part of me wanting an erotica, while the romance was believable because of how much each character needed to be loved and accepted by another person. Nathan was an especially vulnerable character, though he often hid it from Rose. They complimented each other so well, it was hard not to believe they could fall in love, even when much of their shown interaction was sexual. If you can enjoy the sexual escapades, I'd suggest One Thing Leads to Another for you. It's a wonderful erotic story, and I'll be reading Ms. Gilmore's work again.
