| Cammie Yarnell was a 31 year old woman whose lifework was event planning (as in weddings, etc.) Curt Blanco was her ex-friend who had foolishly introduced her to her former fiancé; she had spent the entire year since her wedding was cancelled blaming Curt for introducing her to that dog, Todd! She and Curt had been friends for 17 years, but when Cammie found Todd in bed with two women of the wedding party, she called off the wedding and blamed Curt.
Cammie’s best friend, Kelly, was getting married and, of course, Cammie had to plan the wedding for her. Kelly’s Daddy, Weston Atwood, was a very rich man who owned most of the town, including the local newspaper where Curt worked as a photographer. He had extra expenses now, so he was doing extra work by photographing weddings and other parties. Since he was the best around, Weston had hired him for this special wedding. It was going to be awkward working with Cammie, but neither felt refusing was an option. Ms. Ann Roth has written a fun, fast-paced novel about an overbearing father who believed that, since he was paying, he was running the show! He was constantly causing friction with Cammie and Curt, Kelly and her fiancé, Rick, and all the vendors they worked with. In life, usually the mother of the bride is the one who tries to run the show; this twist of the story made for very interesting, sometimes laughable, interaction with the characters. Ms. Roth exhibits her sense of humor in her dealings with Weston Atwood. He caused more trouble than any mother ever. Through it all, Cammie and Curt had to deal with each other. Their volatile relationship, interwoven with the frustration of working with Weston, made for an entertaining work. It Happened One Wedding is a fun story which is addictive; it is almost impossible to put it down! I know that anyone who likes a love story will be thrilled with the outcome. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
