| Emily has much to deal with of late. After losing her dear mother, the twenty-four-year-old feels the hard pangs of death, as she maintains the household as well as keep the family store operating. She attends church regularly and stays active with church socials but still theres a void and she wonders why she cannot find happiness like the other young women in the area. She is tired of the sadness and despair that fills her days and nights. When a chance meeting with a stranger turns the clock on her life, things suddenly change for her. Noah Barton, a Pastor, is in search of his own parish. In no time the ladies swoon over him, but after Noah meets Emily there is only one woman he desires to share his life. Emily feels a strong attraction to Noah but notices how all the other women seem to gather his attention. When she shares a kiss with him, love blossoms in the air and Emily feels she has found her true mate in life until some nasty gossip stirs that he is engaged to marry another. With the rumor, that neither decides to believe is only gossip, they withhold their feelings for each other keeping their love hid, hoping the other will be the first to mention their true hearts intent.
The Path Taken is a romance that melts the heart and leaves a sigh. Emily and Noah are genuine in their actions and their sensations light up the pages. This reader could not help but feel their joy and sorrow as they seek a need in life with each other. D. K. Abbott creates an inspiring story of love that grips and breathes life. She really captures the emotions that Emily endures that makes this one excellent story. A stylishly composed work that makes the heart leap and brings a great tingling feeling when it is completed. This marvelous read is indeed a keeper. I wish I could give it more than five hearts.
