It is the 22nd century, and space exploration is in full swing. Marissa is an engineer stationed in Jupiter Station, off Earth's orbit, dying for the opportunity to relocate from a job she hates. When the captain of the ship Ichthyes recruits her, she's more than happy to accept the job, even if she wonders why she was specifically selected. Soon enough, Marissa finds out why her expertise is needed, and why the gorgeous Captain Victoria Van Maanen personally chose her. The only question remaining is whether Marissa is ready to embark on a journey that will broaden her horizons, and possibly risk her life... and her heart.

I was really impressed by this book. For such a short read, it has a really complex plot, and the story itself is handled with elegance and consistency. First and foremost, the pacing is superb, never dragging over unnecessary details and never rushing through important parts. The attention paid to narration and pertinent details is almost always spot on. The story itself is packed with action, presenting humor, seriousness, and romance at the appropriate times. The characters are a bit undeveloped, with maybe the exception being Marissa. While Marissa's and Victoria's dynamics in the story were entertaining and strong, there were just too many questions left unanswered about them as individuals. Furthermore, the secondary characters didn't do much to propel the story forward, though in theory, their roles are important. Still, I really enjoyed this book, and I was really glad to see how well written and fleshed out the plot is. I, for sure, would love to see a bigger, lengthier version of this Sci-Fi intrigue.
