Jovana Trajkovski had moved from Macedonia to live near her brother Bojan. Presently she was living with Bojan’s fiancé Laney. She had a hard life before coming to America. Her former boyfriend, Georg, had kept her away from everybody and, in addition to his physical abuse, subjected her to horrendous activities. She was very naive and her brother was overly protective.

The manager at the diner owned by her brother was Randy Strong. He was attracted to Jovana and had learned some of her language. Randy agreed to stay with Jovana and help her while Laney and Bojan were in Paris for their honeymoon. This was a bigger task than he realized because there was a sinister man, Kurt Smith, who was coming into the diner and trying to attract Jovana.

Ms. Michelle Sutton has presented us with an interesting book about someone who moved into America and tried to fit into our lifestyle while learning our cultures and mannerisms. She brought many thought-provoking issues to the surface to consider when around other people. We also get a reminding glance into how hard it can be to stay dedicated to a commitment to Christ when you don’t fully understand.

These characters were so realistic and the storyline so emotionally charged that it was impossible to not be caught up with them. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in other cultures and/or the trials of a new commitment to God. This is a truly great book.
