| Sherrie Porter hid out at the Dew Drop Inn in Wayback, Texas, because she was not ready to let her family know she had returned. Seven years ago, she had left her small hometown and gone to California with Jake Serrano, her boyfriend. Now her fabulous modeling career was over. When her beautiful Malibu home burned and she tried to save her family photos, she was burned on her left hand and arm. There was no way she could be photographed without the scars and injuries showing.
When Jake left Sherrie in Malibu two years before, he had no idea she would ever return. He knew long ago that he had made a mistake when he left. She was still all he wanted in a woman. However, the devastation of breaking his leg and ending his stunt working career had convinced him that Sherrie, with her fantastic magazine spreads, was much too good for him. He took what others felt was the easy way out and ran home. How Sherrie’s family discovered her hiding in the Dew Drop Inn read like a comedy of errors. It also tied into another book I just completed about another member of this family. Ms. Marguerite Arotin had a way of pulling the plot together with her myriad of characters. The love she portrayed for this couple was both heart warming and emotional at times. This book is fast-paced and entertaining. The storyline is somewhat unique—certainly an interesting way to view love lost and restructured. The sexual tension between Jake and Sherrie was unbelievable. The sex was hot and frequent but not offensive. That didn’t make the decisions they faced any easier, however, because there were no modeling career opportunities in Wayback, Texas. I recommend this book highly. I truly enjoyed reading it and didn’t stop from the first page until the last. I was totally captivated.
