| The Bet by Lucinda Bets – Zoe is a power woman. Excellent in her work but that work is more often seen in a man’s hands and she just never has the feeling that she fits in as a woman. Her co-worker, and biggest competitor, Phillip Kingdom, has had his eye on the beauty ever since they’d met, but she never has dated, at all, within the firm. He knows that the only way to make her come around with be putting the effort into another channel; into, say for instance, a bet. And he intends to be the winner...
Enjoyed the fact that Phillip is man enough to know that Zoe deserves the job and can admit that to himself. I found it a very enlightening point that Phillip understands Zoe (a man who actually understands his woman) and that to make her his own will take more than just sweet words, and he then works hard to achieve that goal. And special is the fact that Zoe can honestly admit to herself that the sight of Phillip gives her lustful sweaty sheet thoughts of him and those sheets ... For Zoe, that point begins her emotional blossoming, realizing that she doesn’t need to prove herself any longer, once she accepts her own inner strengths. Slow Hand by Bonnie Edwards – Jared MacKay needs a catnap and nothing, but nothing, should disturb his plans until his next passenger is due. The tap of heels making their way to his boot along the pier, and then the sight of the lithe woman in those heels brings more than one thing in Jared to attention; wow. Considering she must be half of his next charter, described as a newly wedded pair, the aura of anger emanating seems rather odd. And there is no sign of the groom...Teri Branton is the jilted bride, spontaneously planning on indulging herself at the sight of Jared. The charge of electricity passing through the two is enough to ignite, and what a fire it lights! Liked the comparison between pink and red, for Jared’s taste in color on women--a very nice touch in setting an environment for this story! The hurt that Teri feels knowing that she hadn’t realized the truth the entire time with Philip is so sad, but kudos to Jared in knowing just what Teri needs. I thought it wonderful for the two to let loose and decide to indulge, with little hesitation. Jared’s fairly easy acceptance of the “story of the curse”, told to him by his brother and father, upon meeting Teri was then all the more special. A warm, loving relationship meant for every romance lover. The Crib by Sasha White – PI Lexy has some unpleasant information bothering her. A man she considers family is a murder suspect. She needs to get information on the real killer, to make a good solid case for the police. Going to work undercover in the bar owned by the murder suspect, her honorary Uncle Jimmy D., puts her back in the neighbourhood where she spent many years as a youth. Waitressing might let her in on some ideas, rumors, and facts on the case. And then Devon strolls in ... Lexy’s issues from her past greatly influence her life today, and the overwhelming need to solve this case and protect her remaining “family” is the final lead to her having closure. You find yourself as the reader wanting this strong confident woman to achieve that goal, too. Devon is just the man to help her ... A note: These three stories are all excellent reading, with well thought out plots, and wonderful personalities in the characters. Good alpha males and strong confident women. A definite must for your ToBeBought listing. I’ve truly enjoyed this Aphrodisia line of stories.
