Cecilia's beard itches and it is all because her town won't accept a woman doctor. She has to practice as a man even though she has secretly been the town's doctor for three years. When she stumbles across an injured gambler, she is attracted to him as a woman but must care to him as a doctor. James has finally earned enough money to buy back his family's plantation; but in a twist of fate he is stabbed, his money stolen and he is left for dead. Cecilia doesn't know that James wants her plantation. James doesn't know that what he needs is Cecilia. Can they both get what they want?

Fireworks are exploding every time James and Cecilia get near each other. Ms. Campbell does a fabulous job of building the sexual energy between the two. Your heart bleeds for James as you are given flashbacks of the lost of his family's plantation. And your modern mind rebels against a time when a woman wasn't accepted as a doctor. Queen of Hearts gives you an engaging, thrilling, and romantic read. The story is able to sizzle without being overly graphic.

James and Cecilia battle against each other for the same prize without even knowing it; allowing the reader to a secret chuckle as you try to figure out each characters next move. There is a great protagonist that you can love to hate. Add in the mystery of who attacked and stole from James and there is not much more you can ask for. I will definitely be looking for more books from Ms. Campbell.
