Marcus Mason would give anything to be with a band selling millions of albums. With his thirtieth birthday nearing, it seems unlikely his big chance will happen. After struggling through a horrible divorce, he badly craves a cigarette. His life has turned to nothing of late. All he got out of the divorce was a dumpy two-room flat and working at a soul-draining job. Over the past two years he had at least made two guitars from scratch and the electric one he had been most proud, using it with his band, the Corduroy Peach. After becoming a divorcee’, he wishes he had the nerve to ask Rose Finer out on a date. Rose is a geologist and collects rocks. At twenty-six, she feels she is over the hill, especially when her boyfriend runs off with her best friend. Of course it really was probably best since he wanted her to stay at home and be a little missus, complaint. After she meets Marcus, she tells him she plays a bit of the cello. He is quite impressed with Rose and would like to spend more time with her but the more they are drawn together, will Marcus once again have his heart-broken?

The Rocktastic Corduroy Peach, the first in the trilogy, revolves around a man trying to find his importance in life, as he gets ready to embrace thirty. Marcus is like most people who wonder what if they had chosen another course in life. This reader got a feel of the pain that Marcus endured while suffering through his divorce. The one thing that grabbed my attention was how he kept the antique necklace for spite, during the divorce. After the rejection, he felt that was his power over his ex-wife. Michael Paul Amos creates a read that allows emotions of love, hate, desire and grabbing and holding onto dreams to surface. He creates a believable tale that many often face in their lifetime.
