| Jericho Farrell was a poor, wrong-side-of-the-tracks young man who happened to work for Coy Sawyer at Sawyer Farms. He hated Wayback, Texas and longed to be somebody and leave that sleepy town. Eden Sawyer had loved Jericho for years. When he left, he, unknowingly, left behind a young woman expecting his child. Four years later, he returned riding high on the rodeo circuit. That is, until his mother, the town drunk, pinned him under her car and broke not only both his legs but also his rodeo career.
Ms. Mallary Mitchell has penned a quick read which packed a powerful punch. This boy with nothing and the daughter of a prosperous man are at the center of this small town saga with age-old problems. She took a plot which was not necessarily new and gave it an extended storyline which popped with sensuality and underlying tension. It made a wonderfully nostalgic book with routine problems and roadblocks. The ending, however predictable, was painted with a different brush to keep the story fresh. There was constant conflict, not just between the two main characters, but with their families and friends constantly trying to orchestrate the circumstances the couple faced. I loved the story and highly recommend it to others. It’s a great pick-me-up book which will leave you with good vibes from the happily ever after.
