| A foreboding eclipse appears in the sky, signaling the epic battle between the god Teppal and his archenemy. Ryllana is the maiden chosen to be sacrificed by Teppal’s beast, in order for Teppal to win the war and save the world. Ryllana accepts her fate, and just as she is ready to die, the impossible happens. Instead of killing her, the beast keeps her alive, long enough for her to rediscover her will to live and love. However, the person responsible for Ryllana’s happiness is none other than the beast’s human servant, Draig, who despite sharing Ryllana’s feelings, holds dark secrets that possess the power to destroy everything Ryllana holds dear.
This amazingly sweet story just sucked me right in. Despite the fact I was a little skeptical by the depth of the love Draig and Ryllana suddenly share, it was still real and gripping in its intensity. Ryllana is a strong willed woman with a fragile interior, and I was surprised to find myself falling for this character. Draig, on the other hand, is every woman’s dream, loving and honest, and his integrity is so immense you find yourself feeling everything he feels, hoping he will be triumphant at the end. I especially enjoyed Ms. Kerry’s beautiful diction, and found myself enchanted with her breathtakingly talented writing. This short story is definitely worth reading.
