| Detective Doug Brophy is facing his toughest case yet. Santa has been kidnapped a week out from Christmas and in front of a bunch of kids no less. But that’s just half of what makes this case his toughest. He also has to work closely beside the woman whose heart he broke six months earlier, Paulina Smithfield.
First off, I really enjoyed how Saving Christmas started off explosively, and just got better with every page. The plot was enjoyable and fun, mixed with lots of suspense and romance which made for a brilliant read. The dialogue was strong, especially between the two headstrong characters in Doug and Paulina. Neither one would give an inch when it came to the investigation and how dangerous it became for one of them. The sex scenes were hot, and showed how deeply the attraction these two shared. What I enjoyed so much about the heroine was her strength, and that she wouldn’t give up her chance to pursue the case because of the trouble coming her way. While with the hero, I liked his protective instincts and that he was willing to keep Paulina safe even though their relationship was rocky at the start. Overall, Ms. James has done an excellent job penning this tale and I can’t wait to read more of her work in the future.
