Gatler is happy that his brother Thane has finally found the woman of his dreams, but wants him to keep a promise from long ago. The brothers had gotten together and decided that they would share their mates so that there were no hard feelings between them. Thane doesn’t seem to want to follow through, but Gatler is definitely ready too. After finally having Veylin, he knows that he needs her to balance him out. Then he finds a lost love from long ago and everything is turned upside down.

Lalanc wished that she could end her relationship with Gatler so many years ago on better terms, but at the time it seemed impossible. Now that they’ve met again, can they get over the past?

I have read the first two in this series, and let me start out by saying I didn’t think that Secret Slave was as good. It had none of the subtle relationships that went on before, and the story jumped around quite a bit, leaving me a bit confused at times about what exactly was going on, particularly in the beginning. I didn’t really think that Gatler and Lalanc had a lot of chemistry together; they just didn’t seem to be as passionate about each other as I thought they would be. Another one of the distractions for me was Gunter going after Thanes woman, Veylin, mainly because I thought he should be more interested in pursuing Lalanc than her. It also didn’t keep in line with the rest of the series where initially Thane wanted them all to keep hands off Veylin. I felt that the final brother, Calem, didn’t seem to get his story told, and his story really didn’t feel finished to me, maybe I missed something. Pact of Princes 3: Secret Slave had an intriguing story line that kept me entertained and wishing it was better developed.
