This was one sexy and heartfelt read. I lost a piece of my self to Michael, he was so genuinely devastated by Mara's decision over matters beyond his control. I loved his passion and his zest for life and I found myself crying over his hardships. I in no way felt maternal towards him and I would have traded places with Mara in a heartbeat. The heroine was easy to identify with and her reasoning was understandable and not cruel. The secondary characters were amazingly developed for such a short story and the description of the compound and the bar brought the story to life with astonishing clarity. This is part of a series and although I hadn't read any of the others (but I plan to now) I never once felt as if I was missing any information. I enjoyed this story very much and highly recommended to fans of shapeshifting romances.
