| His heartbeat pounds in his ears as he stalks his victim. A voice in his head screams at her to run; run away! He rebukes it and laughs, lifting a soft blonde curl and brushing it across her cheek.
Later, in the wee hours of that same night, as Detective Liz Ramsey works the crime scene, she looks into the crowd and locks gazes with a man that fills her body with a hum of electricity that threatens to overwhelm her, until she breaks eye contact. When she looks up again, he is gone. In the course of her investigation, Liz uncovers his identity as reclusive and renowned artist, Greg Conyers. Liz and Greg share an attraction that she can’t resist no matter how she fights it and his kiss is like nothing she’s ever experienced. If only she could be sure she the man she’s falling in love with isn’t a modern day Jack-the-Ripper! This has to be the best mystery/suspense story I’ve read in a very long time. The romance part is top notched too. I was drawn in and immediately identified with Liz as she fell so hard for her hero, wishing with all her heart to believe in him, but fearing her judgment was affected by her feelings for him. Greg is a sympathetic hero, very in tune with Liz’s needs, even while all hell breaks loose around him. The sex is arousing, sweet and oh, so, satisfying despite being an isolated event. The focus of the story is the mystery, suspense and romance rather than the sex, but that doesn’t keep the sex from being hot enough to melt metal. I was completely immersed in the mystery, left panting by the suspense and my heart literally ached for the lovers and their predicament. I loved this book, one of the best in the genre. Don’t miss this one.
