| ‘We’ll be together again’ was the only hope that Bren had in finding his sweet Jazz again, and without a clue as to how, he had to believe that in time they would be reunited. After five months, Bren finally begins to feel some energy and purpose once more. The Shadowmaster had been conquered and the witch sanctuaries safe but the battle had cost Jazz her life. Finding herself trapped, left in limbo, in Talamadden, the land of the dead, she waits until a spirit guide can revitalize her memories. Her desire is to return to Bren, her love but shadows refuse to allow her to find the path to the living.
Bren, now the King of the Witches has been entrusted to watch over the witch villages. He realizes that if he crosses over into the land of the dead, it will kill him, but he must go to Talamadden to rescue Jazz. Abandoning the village, he sets course to find his one true love and bring her home, not realizing that evil lurks once again to bring destruction to the witches. With Bren gone, the Shadows can return and weaken the witches, having rule over them. The two must use all their power to find each other and stop the wickedness before everyone is uprooted. Shadowqueen is the continuation of L.O.S.T. The story weaves into action once more as Bren must find his precious Jazz and release her so they can be together as one. It carries strength, love, devotion and more menacing events that spring to life through the pages. Ms. Federici and Ms. Vaught allow the characters to show a wide range of emotions even with the parents in this page-turner. They give thought provoking issues that have the reader wondering what they would do in the situation. The mesmerizing story holds the readers interest all the way to the end and sparks with excitement throughout.
