| Lady Theodosia Barrett has been raised to protect the selkie and hunt vampires just like generations of Barretts before her. However, the Dark Fin-Folk Queen Dubheasa has blackmailed her with a threat to harm her family unless Theo brings her the pelt of the selkie king. Although she's unable to see him clearly after she calls him, she realizes that the selkie she called is a vampire and she stakes him but leaves before she knows if he’s dead.
King Roane of Cu Mara has survived being staked by Theo and is determined to find out why she did it. A year later he takes Theo as his bride without her realizing that he’s the vampire she attacked. Together they must defeat Dubheasa to save the selkie kingdom. I really liked the character of Theo. She’s a strong, intelligent and passionate woman in a time when those qualities were regarded as flaws in females. She is a fighter and a protector especially when it comes to her family and her strength of character is shown throughout the book. Roane is her perfect counterpart. Although he is confused about her motives for the attack, he tries to protect her and find the facts rather than take out his anger on her. He admires her strength and passion while falling in love with her. This was an excellent book with strong characters, passionate love scenes, believable dialog and an intelligent plot.
