Hiding from his past, Chase Churchill has reinvented himself and is now a successful graphic novelist. But his past still haunts him. His father was an insane serial killer so he has kept away from forming any lasting attachments, fearing he might some day be like his father. But someone from Chase's past has started killing again and they are targeting people that Chase is close to, including Kayne. Kane Kennedy is the one man Chase loves. Yet can he take a chance on love? Or is the past to close for Chase to ever have a normal future with Kayne?

I really liked the story line for this book. It is original and interesting. For the most part, the story runs smoothly with an occasional lag here and there. I would categorize this story as more of a suspense genre than a romance. I had a little bit of trouble with the characters. The only one with any depth was Chase, everyone else had moments of depth but it seemed inconsistent. Kayne would have been a great foil for Chase's self-sacrificing tendencies if he hadn't seemed to be perfect in getting Chase everything he needed. It seemed that maybe if he hadn't been so understanding and gave Chase some tough love, maybe he would have stopped feeling he had to atone for everything sooner. The villain in the story starts of with such potential but by the end I just felt he was a spoiled brat. There are some mild m/m scenes but nothing detailed or offensive to the reader. I know that it seems that I did not enjoy the story, but I did, really. This was unique tale that was interesting and while the character development bothered me some, it was not enough to say don't read this story, it just suspenseful enough to keep the reader going until the end.
