Lucretia Cabot had her life planned. There was safety in her plan and in the two people she allowed to be close to her. Her brother Seth and she were orphaned at a young age and left in the care of their Aunt Jilly. Illness took Jilly too soon and Cree has made it her mission in life to see through her Aunt’s dream. Ellen has become surrogate mother to both Cree and Seth and she’s determined to meet a goal of her own.

A crazy plan is set into motion with an ad for a handyman and a scheme that can’t fail. Michael doesn’t know he’s a pawn, but when he finds out, he doesn’t mind. In Lucretia’s eyes he can see the woman she hides. But stubborn pride and fear prevent the real Lucretia from accepting what is offered.

In Kicking Sideways I found a delightful story that kept me turning pages. The story was realistic and sweet yet not clichéd. It was a ride that was well worth taking. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it left me examining my own reasons for hiding parts of myself. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next offering from Ms.Keratsis.
