| A lone cowboy on his horse is making his way to Kentucky, but he never makes it there. Daniel Woods had left his home in Chesapeake Bay for Kentucky to claim the inheritance his uncle had left him. On the way something happens that changes his plans and he never sees Kentucky.
Justine Nakes has lived on the mountain since she was a young girl. Her mother and uncle had come out here after the war and after they passed away she stayed on for there was no where else to go. Alone with just the company of her dog Duke and a neighbor Sam who leved a few miles from her, Justine hardly ever saw another human around. She was surprised when she saw Daniel walking his horse up the trail. As the cowboy asks for shelter for a few days to let his horse's leg mend, seems they both took a bad fall on the slope when the ground gave way under them, Justine hesitates but her compassion for the horse wins over. In the few days that pass, Daniel finds that Justine is a tender hearted woman who has learned to care for herself insolated in the mountains. Yet there was something about her that sparked desire in him. He made it clear he would be leaving when his horse was well enough to travel yet there was something that kept him there. Was it that he had fallen for Justine? They spend their days enjoying each other and their nights are spent in passion and love. Daniel had asked Justine to come with him to Kentucky but she refused saying she could never leave the mountain. When it came time for Daniel to leave Justine asked him one favor she wanted him to go to the top of the mountain and see what was there. I liked the story. It makes one believe that there is something more after we leave this earth. It makes us all want to find that perfect place where we will be happy for eternity with someone special. I give this story 5 hearts and hope you readers will enjoy it like I did.
