| Tara Rustle's twenty-third birthday went from bad to worse unexpectedly. Her home caught on fire, burned to the ground and what little she had was destroyed in the fire. Another loss for Tara is too much as shock sets in. She doesn't remember how she ended up in the arms of childhood friends Clay and Johnny Morten. When her memory returns all the old memories are a burden to bear. Clay and Johnny offer her a cooking job until she gets on her feet. They also hope she'll be theirs eventually. When things start going their way an old flame threatens Tara's life. Clay and Johnny race to the rescue again to save the
woman they both have always loved.
The first in the Slick Rock series introduces us to Tara and her men. The opening with the fire and Tara's collapse from all the trauma in her young life had me engaged in her story for a while. When she arrives rather dramatically in Slip Rock is where my interest started to take a U-Turn. This is where the story collapses in the unbelievable zone. There are a few unrealistic elements that I found hard to get past and the characters were vaguely developed. The dialogue between the characters sometimes didn't fit the situation and that bothered me. There's a lot going on from Tara's emotional state to the crazy scorned woman who wants her dead. It's amazing Tara was able to engage in all the frequent sex. All things considered it was diverting in some respects.
