| Alice Beasley has known poverty! Her parents filed bankruptcy and, while they seemed to be okay with their losses, Alice knew she would never allow herself to get in that situation. When her great-aunt Alicia died, she was invited to the reading of the will; hopefully, she would get some money which would help her pay off her student loans and build up her little nest egg. Her “almost fiancé,” Steven, went with her to Radford, a small town where life revolved around her aunt’s business, Fancy Free Limited.
When she heard the will read, she could not believe that she had inherited the business, which was a condom making company! This was certainly something she knew nothing about. However, she had to work there for six months before she would inherit; otherwise, the business would go to charity! The operating manager of the company, James Bates, was only there for six months also; he promised Alicia he would help her niece understand the business aspect, and then he was going to travel overseas. How Steven reacted is predictable; how James did, was something else. And the Board of Directors included James, Alice and a bunch of older men and women who discussed the condom business like they were producing candy! This tongue-in-cheek tale written by Shelley Munro is not only hilarious, but a sweet love story. There is also some vicious terrorizing that actually scares Alice more than she wants to admit. Ms. Munro takes this romantic comedy and shows how interactions can change someone’s life for the better. How James deals with his mother and sister, and how the cult is involved are just examples of relationship dilemmas with which they have to deal. And you can imagine just how you must “test” condoms, right? This book is filled with passionate sexual situations. I thoroughly enjoyed this book; besides the humor, the intensity of Alice’s terror attacks, and the development of the relationship between James and Alice are wonderful. I highly recommend this book. It certainly delivers all the issues needed for a perfect read!
