| This anthology gave us four tributes to soldiers and the ones who loved them in different times of war. These authors are some I was not necessarily familiar with but they certainly knew how to portray the pride we should have for our military.
“Memorial Meeting” was a fabulously written story about lost love during World War II. This poignant plot brought together two people who married others and gave their former love’s names to their grandchildren. “Flyover” was an offering from the viewpoint of a modern-day soldier, wounded and left for dead in Afghanistan. His confused portrayal of the outcome of the skirmish he, alone, lived through will excite those with a love for the supernatural. “Thanet Blake’s Memorial Day” gave the readers a ghost story. Thanet talked to a fallen soldier during his funeral that needed him to prevent his widow’s suicide. Finally, “For the Boys” was a story which united an Army pilot and a USO dancer. This was a beautiful story of love between two men during the Korean Conflict and the dangers encountered when the USO troupe was returning to the MASH unit. These novellas were not necessarily my favorite genres. However, I thoroughly enjoyed them all, some more than others. They were short, to the point, storylines with unique plots. The characters and scenarios were believable and the fast-paced manuscripts gave me some great reading. I recommend this book for those who like shorter stories with a mixed genre. You will definitely not be bored.
