Carly Wright, a lead journalist, for the student newspaper at Doral College, wants to expose the truth but it might not be as easy as it appears when she starts to provide evidence that local Sheriff Nagle is corrupt and vindictive. There have been too many false arrests and someone needs to get him out of office. Mayor Wright believes his daughter should stay out of harms way. He understands her slanted political views and is embarrassed that she didn’t even vote for him in the election. As a local political figure, he expects better from her. Amy, Carly’s mom thinks her husband is too strict on Carly, but he believes Carly will ruin his chances of being re-elected. The more Carly digs, the more peril comes knocking because someone is following her and doesn’t wish secrets revealed. Now it appears the next big news just might be her murder. Deputy Robby Coad, a rookie, believes Carly is bound to get in trouble if she continues to invade into police business. Once her father gets wind of the article she wishes to print in The Speering, Rob is certain Carly will need all the protection he can give and that is one girl that Rob would love to offer safety for the rest of her life.

Speerings is a whirlwind story that has Carly seeking for answers to make things right in a town where corruption is the middle name. Carly is one courageous girl who only wants to find truth and expose every single word. Ms. Warner makes Carly a realistic individual who is not even afraid to stand up to her own father for what she believes. I love Rob’s charm and how he cares deeply for Carly and wishes to be there for her. Carly is a terrific girl exhibiting courage and strength that really makes this story spectacular as she uncovers the truth, to make things right, while facing her own jeopardy. With some bad guys, treachery and tons of deception, this book is chocked full of riveting suspense.
