| I Put a Spell on You is collection of nine stories. Each story contains a spell and a m/m/f relationship. While the same idea, each story is unique offers something different for the reader.
Bad Hoodoo is what happens when a cocky author insults a bookstore/magic shop owner in the heart of Voodoo land. Play Music, Play Magic is a tale of musical magic involving two lovers, Isaac and Rhys, and their occasional lover, Noula -- a wandering minstrel with a magical secret. Antithesis of Magic. At least that is what Gus calls himself. The seventh son of a seventh son with not one ounce of magic in his veins. Max and Lila have sought him out for that specific reason. In The Birth of the Year, Ari and Jaan need Rue to help them bring on the new year. Vince has invited Peter and Dani to The Shore House. When he finds his grandmother's recipe/spell book, he bakes up quite a surprise. Midsummer Morning Woods features Oberon, Nick and Titania. With a little magic, their son sets out to remind them that they once loved each other, and still do. Winter King stars a husband, wife, and her lover, who discover gods and a goddess as well as a forbidden pleasure. In Ironheart, Keefe, Tirzah, and Everan find their bond tested to its limits. Just when they finally find happiness, it is snatched away. Sleeping with Monsters tells a tale of what happens when a spell takes on a life of its own. The anthology as a whole didn't impress me very much. Perhaps it's because each story had about fifteen pages if you divide the total pages of written word by nine. If there were fewer stories, or each story was longer, I may have been able to enjoy some of them more. I appreciate quick reads as much as the next person, but I also enjoy delving into the character and getting a good understanding, maybe even falling for the hero or heroine a little. Out of the bunch, I enjoyed The Shore House the most because I really got to know and understand Vince. The Shore House, Winter King, Ironheart would be the ones I recommend out of the bunch because I believe if you took out the spell, the story would still be there. The others existed more because of the spell rather than having the spell enhancing the story. Sleeping with Monsters didn't fit in my slot with the other stories, but I enjoyed it anyway. All of the stories have very intense, hot love scenes that should please most readers, and because it is an anthology, you can take a break in between stories to deal with the real world, and then come back and read some more without that nagging sensation you get when reading a full novel that you have to get back to so you can find out what will happen next.
