Standish is a dark romance whose author, Erastes brings to mind the writing skills of Bronte. This is an emotionally stirring story of tortured lovers that seem to forever for one reason or another be kept apart. As I read tears filled my eyes slowly overfilling and spilling down my face. My chest grew tight as I experienced the pain of the characters. The suffering and pain is so very tangible that readers will be unable not to be moved by this touching story. These compelling characters make the reader a part of their life as they experience passion and adventure. The story had a sense of realism that stayed true to the era and that is appreciated in a historical romance. The descriptive skills of the author bring the story to life and the reader will actually feel they have been transported back in time. Although the storyline flows smoothly I found myself taking several breaks to think about what I have read. Thus I prolonged my agony and savored the story as I read but I found that could not stay away and quickly returned anxious to discover how the story ends. This has to be one of the best stories I have read in a long time and I highly recommend it to the readers. Readers that appreciate historical romances will want to look for this brilliantly story, Standish by Erastes. I look forward to reading many more such romances from this gifted author.
