Summer's Wolf is the second book in the Westervelt Wolves series. Summer has denied her wolf heritage and abandoned her family. Until one fateful day when she must embrace the wolf within or suffer untold pain. Her exploration into her wolf heritage forces her to confront her own fears and enemies of her family. Her mate Cullen has been waiting for her to mature but time is up. Their enemies are seeking to destroy their pack. Cullen has waited for centuries to possess the beautiful soul he sees in Summer. Will true love prevail when so much evil threatens to destroy their future?

The characters are well developed and display strengths and weaknesses. Summer is a feisty and strong woman. Her internal struggle to fight her instincts creates a very real character. She wants to choose her life and future. Cullen also fights his instinct to consume Summer's mind and body. As the pack assassin, he has been forced to be a loner and is always delivering bad news. He does not feel he deserves to be loved. He resists but soon finds out his mate is his match in many ways. She will not let him leave or be alone any longer. When Summer embraces her instincts of woman and wolf it is an explosion of sexual passion and violent rage.

This is an adventurous and fast moving story. From start to end, it is filled with action and violence which is part of the wolf world created by Rebecca Royce. It is easy to cheer for this couple to overcome all who strive to destroy their family. The love which takes hold of Summer and Cullen has been growing for many years. Their romance in this story is warm and sweet yet surrounded by darkness and evil. Their sexual chemistry is sizzling among death and destruction. This is an easy and enjoyable story to read. I look forward to reading the third book in the series, Wolf Reborn, to see what new adventures and romance the Westervelt wolf pack encounters.
