| Charlotte Layton has been living on Earth for 30 years. She doesn't know that she is actually an alien from the planet Ontariese and that she possesses incredible power--the power to save her home planet from a war that has been ongoing for many years. Tal Aune has been sent to retrieve "a helpless Earthling" before his enemy can lay claim to her. What he doesn't expect is that Charlotte holds the future of Ontariese in her hands--if his enemy doesn't use her to further his plan to rule Ontariese even if that means the annihilation of an entire race of people.
Cyndi Friberg's Ontarian Chronicles 1: Taken by the Storm held me in thrall from beginning to end. I loved the heroine, Charlotte. While she found herself in quite a strange situation, she rose to the challenge. She was brave, feisty, and she didn't just accept the norm, she did what she felt was right and she stood up for herself. Tal is a great male character and easy to fall in love with. He was compassionate and sexy as all hell. His comments about his being "a master-level mage" held just enough arrogance to make him appealing but not too cocky. He and Charlotte's first interactions on Earth were very funny and highly entertaining. Taken by the Storm had it all--tense action, suspense, erotic sex, humor and a wildly imaginative plot. Ms. Friberg really brought Ontariese to life with her vivid descriptions of the planet, their customs and their people. I will continue to think about these characters long after finishing the book. I encourage everyone, especially fans of futuristic romance, to read Ms. Friberg's Ontarian Chronicles 1: Taken by the Storm, you won't be disappointed.
