|Brooke is a captain who has lost her ship and everyone aboard. If this were not enough, she doesn't remember how it happened since she didn't remember three days of her life. Willing to forget her troubles for one night, she leaves her worries aside and let herself be seduced by two gorgeous men. But what she doesn't know is that Galen and Nikolai are in that bar to investigate her participation in the disappearance of her ship.
When you try an unknown author, it is always a risk. So far I have been lucky and Tangled Shadows was definitely a hit. The story is well-written and straight forward. The plot is not too confusing and it's easy to follow. But some further background explanation would have been nice. The characters are likeable. Brooke is a strong, competent woman but at the same time, fragile. She feels very deeply but hides in fear of being hurt. Galen and Nikolai are an established couple. Galen is the most thoughtful of the two. He has to be because of what he is. Nikolai is more intense, he prefers to act rather than wait. Although Galen and Nikolai are already a couple for some years, Brooke combines perfectly with them. I didn't feel like she intruded on their relationship. Overall, Tangled Shadows was a great debut book by Tina Christopher. I look forward for the sequel.
