|Witnessing a murder turns Kenzi Morgan's world upside down, especially when the man shot isn't dead like she thought. Offering assistance to a stranger isn't the wisest thing Kenzi could do, but what other choice does she have considering the men who shot him could come back.
As undercover DEA, Jackson Taylor has to expect the unexpected like his partner shooting him to save his own identity from being discovered. Accepting help from a woman that witnessed his supposed death is something Jackson knows isn't good if he has any hope of her staying safe from the trouble he finds himself in, yet he needs her if he has any chance of taking down the bad guys that put him in the position he finds himself in.
I really enjoyed how this book started with Kenzi thinking it was the local kids hanging around her property as they normally do, only to find that it's not them but that she's about to witness a murder. The dialogue was strong throughout with Kenzi helping Jackson recover, yet emotional in some parts especially when Kenzi discovered the truth of why Jackson's partner shot him at the place where he did. Since the identity of Jackson's partner was a complete surprise to Kenzi as she thought his partner was someone long gone from her life. The sex scenes were great and illustrated the explosive chemistry these two had from the moment they met. Then again, what hero wouldn't appreciate a woman helping him to recover from a gun shot wound. What I liked so much about Kenzi was her willingness to help Jackson recover so he could take down the bad guys and help his partner before he ended up in the same situation as Jackson had. While with Jackson, I liked how protective he was for a woman he barely knew. Then again, as a cop he believes it's his duty to serve and protect those that need it.
Overall, this was a great novel that ended quite well in reuniting a family once torn apart as well as the hero and heroine getting a second chance at love.
