Rio kidnaps Juli for her protection and takes her to a remote homestead he recently purchased at auction. Both Juli and Rio are surprised to find a war veteran, Cord, living at the ranch, claiming it is his. Clearing up that misunderstanding provides Rio the help he needs to keep Juli safe, even if it means Juli and Cord becoming sexual active while Rio watches from the shadows.
Read this one if you like your stories steaming hot with a confident heroine and tortured heroes who want the best for their lady. Rio has admired Juli from afar for all these years, believing he wouldn't be good enough for her because of his scarred exterior and his feelings of failure for the plane crash. Cord has returned from war scarred on the inside and trying to deal with the effects of being a soldier. Juli the salvation of each of them but sometimes it takes a lot to understand and act on the right choices. For these three, it's the getting there that is half the battle. The sex takes center stage in this story which can be a bit of a turnoff if the story doesn't support it. However, this author manages to get the point across that with honest loving, past hurts, and the idea that experiences can be dealt with and life is meant to be lived. The sex scenes are explicit, honest, and portrayed with raw emotion that suits all the characters and the traits the author has given them. While Rio surviving the plane crash is a bit of a stretch, the problems Cord is facing as a war veteran are very real. I applaud the author for giving this subject the attention it deserves without letting it overtake the romance.
