The Timestone Key

Pamela Hearon
Time-travel romance
Available from Lyrical Press
October 2009

The Timestone Key by Pamela Hearon was a compelling and lovely story. The main character Halley is a modern day woman with commitment issues. She is in a long standing relationship with Tom and has a problem figuring out if he’s the One for her. Halley is also in love with all things pertaining to King Arthur and finally has a chance to take a vacation to visit all the spots relating to him. She has been plagued with dreams of him her whole life and it escalates into visions that are steadily taking over her every waking moment. She questions her own sanity and wonders where the visions are leading her and what will become of her once she’s where they want her to be. Is Arthur, the man of her dreams, the love that she has been waiting for? Or is Tom the man in her life the one for her?

This is my first time reading a time travel romance and I was instantly hooked. Pamela Hearon has an amazing way with words. She spins this story with such vivid imagery that it instantly comes to life for you. You are right there with Halley as she travels over Europe and about the country side and waits with bated breath for the next vision or the next clue. Her main character Halley is so easy to relate to and down to Earth. Tom is a guy you like right off the bat and are quietly rooting for even if you’re in love with Arthur. Pamela Hearon brings the characters of Merlin, Arthur and a wide array of others to life and gives them a depth that forces you to look at them differently. She doesn’t just tell us a love story she tells you about a woman’s journey to find herself, her place in the world, and her own mind. This is definitely an author I will be following in the future.
