| Rilla Devane is on a mission to solve her father's murder. Her father was the Sheriff of a small Tennessee county and recently murdered. Rilla, a detective in Nashville, returns to Tennessee to seek justice for her father's death. Taking up her father's vacant post as Sheriff, Rilla is determined to find the killer even thought he trail has gone cold. What does run hot is the recent increase in potent street drugs. Rilla questions whether the recent increase in drug traffic is somehow connected to her father's death. She is also suspicious of the new man in town, Mackenzie Callahan. What Rilla doesn't know is that Mac is a DEA agent hired to watch her. Mac is trying to save his career with this new assignment. Rilla might compromise more than Mac's career-his heart be on the line as well. Because of the recent death of her father, a big bank account and new position as Sheriff, Rilla is a suspect. The attraction between these two grows and soon they begin wondering if they are both innocent, who is quieting the protests and supplying the drugs? Could it be the same person or persons responsible for Rilla's father's death?
This was a gripping tale filled with edgy twists and turns. The main characters of Rilla and Mac smolder when near each other and the erotic scenes are very well written and very intense. The whole plot is a refreshing read and will make hard to put down. It is never dull with Mac and Rilla at first suspicious, then sorting out their new relationship and how it affects their lives. The drug trafficking, drug overdoses and on-going mystery of solving this crime work well with the romantic elements of the story. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great story to really get lost in.
