Special Agent Gabe Landry has his work cut out for him after someone finds the skeletal remains of three bodies that appear to be those of murdered women. Not knowing who they are, he's forced to bring in someone from outside the agency -- a woman with her own special set of skills to help identify the victims.

Mackayla Kensington is a sketch artist, and a very good one. She's helped many police departments and foreign countries in identifying skeletal remains; all as a result of her own tragic past after her daughter was murdered and not found for months after. It helps her to move forward with her life by believing doing justice for the victims is the right thing to do, even though it won't ever bring her daughter back.

This book was an excellent read that progressed with such fluency that I could not put it down for a second. The plot was dynamic and drew me in as a reader because of its intensity and its attention to detail when it came to the investigation. It felt like the hero was telling his side as if he was an agent in real life telling as if a true story which I thought was great. The dialogue was also fantastic, as it illustrated the importance of the investigation from both the main character's perspectives as they worked towards finding the people responsible. Although there were no sex scenes, the kisses shared between the hero and heroine were passionate and definitely made me eager to see them together. However though, that didn't happen and still this story was worth reading. What I liked so much about Mackayla was how passionate she was about her job, and the lengths she went to in helping the police. And as for the hero, I liked how he wanted to protect Mackayla after trouble came her way.

Overall, Ms. Patrick has penned a superb tale in this one with two strong characters that have to face their pasts -- as both of them have lost loved ones -- if they're to have any hope at a future together. Well done to this author, of which I can't wait to read the first instalment of this series and the ones to come in the future.
