Archaeologist Fredericka (Freddie) Bodine unexpectedly meets an old high school friend, Keith Wallace, at their high school reunion. Freddie has always had a crush on Keith and is surprised to find out that he is equally interested in her. On leave from Special Ops, Keith is distraught to find out that Freddie is heading on a bus tour to see ruins that are close to the “Hot Zone.” As they begin to reestablish a relationship that becomes sexual, Keith does his best to convince Freddie not to go on the tour. What will Keith do if something happens to the woman the he finally realizes that he loves?

Unconditional Surrender was an enthralling book about an emotionally strong woman and a man who's used to people taking his advice. Freddie was a wonderful character who stepped off the pages of the book for me. I loved her character. Keith was also a great character -- I was delighted to see that he did not force Freddie to take his advice. Keith showed Freddie his concern as well as his trust in her. Together again after high school, Keith and Freddie have incredibly erotic sex. I found myself reading more quickly in order to get to their sexual encounters. I would certainly have loved to be there. There were a number of well-written secondary characters who helped the plot run smoothly. Ms. Agnew is a prolific author with an intense grasp on her craft. Unconditional Surrender was her next great book, continuing her “Hot Zone” series. I plan to read the rest of this series.
