|Ethan has been alone most of his young life. Losing both parents at a young age had taught him to depend on himself, not to rely on anyone else. He has his own apartment and a job to keep the roof over his head. When a young woman moves into the building, Ethan is determined to mind his own business and not get involved. That's easier said than done when he realizes she's just struggling to survive. A relationship develops between the two and life takes on a new meaning.
Ethan was brought up by a father who didn't show much affection but he did provide a home and took care of him the best way he could. When he loses his father, he was prepared for the cold world when the foster system disposed of him. Meeting Emily changes the course of his life and it was a joy to read. Told in narrative form, Ethan's voice as storyteller had me hooked from start to finish. Kudos to the author for this simple little gem that's a beautifully written tribute to love. The pacing is a little fast as it skips ahead in time. It wasn't too distracting as the story was so engaging. I really liked this book.
