Scotland is under the England's dominion. But depending upon the Scottish, it will not last long. Ragnar was not concerned with the English until they take away something from him and put a bounty on his head. Now his only goal is revenge. Prince Edward is the heir to the English throne, but he lives alone in his quarters by order of his father. He's not a warrior like his father so he's of no use to the king. But his strength lies in his intelligence and he planned to overthrow the throne of his father to prove that it was his turn to reign.

Valiant One surprised me. I do not know what I expected but what I found was better than any expectations I have. I will not say that the story has no points that I dislike it because I'd be lying. But overall I really liked the book. As I said earlier, the story has some drawbacks as insta-love (Ragnar is ready to declare his love to Prince Edward after the first meeting between them) and some information that is only given about some situations. But that didn't diminish or compromise the story at all. Like any story involving any royal court, Valiant One has manipulation, betrayal, and power hungry people. All characters seeks to achieve its hidden agenda and does not measure efforts for it.

The romance between Edward and Ragnar is very fast because of the circumstances. They have a meeting when they get known and some time later they meet again. During the story, both characters have a common goal which is to overthrow the King of England. But for different reasons: Edward because he think that the time of his father is over and believes that he do a better job. Ragnar wants to avenge the death of his first lover. I don't need to say that they get what they want and then some (their HEA). A enjoyable read.
