We first met Connor when he broke into Eli's apartment in Eli's Way, book 3 (which I reviewed here at The Romance Studio). Connor is a young farm boy, who was thrown out of his house when his father caught him in a compromising position with another boy. Poor kid is homeless, looking for a job and about to be thrown out of his latest shelter since he's been there too long. He goes to The Manacle, which is Christian's club, because Eli and Jersey gave him a card telling him to go there for something to eat. I describe Connor as a boy but he is truly just an innocent, naïve young man. He meets Vaughn at the club, hungry and a little overwhelmed. Vaughn realizes Connor is his mate and longs to do whatever it takes to not just have Connor, but to love and protect him as well.

Sigh. Connor is generally terrified... terrified of his sexuality, Vaughn, vampires, werewolves, bikers, men with guns and well probably his shadow too. I'm not saying he shouldn't be, just felt it was getting old after a chapter or two. Connor also just doesn't understand that whole 'MATE' thing. Vaughn takes him on a date to a biker bar since he used to hang with a biker club, the only real issue being he wasn't out so no one knew he was gay. He played poker while Connor watched the game, the drunken fights and generally became frightened by the large men fighting. This bar is also where we meet Tiny and Randy...

Connor and Vaughn trying to get through their fears and bond together was nice. I did eventually have a moment or two of not completely hating Connor (and feeling sorry for Vaughn). I thought Randy teaming up with an actual group of vampire hunters was a good twist. I definitely had a few moments of holding my breath, scared at what would happen to the couple. I either like or love Ms. Hagen's books. I say that because this is the eleventh book of hers I have reviewed here, nine of them being either part of Brac Pack, Zeus Pack or Christian's Coven Series, and I bought ten of the books myself! I did love meeting Tiny who we will get to know in Book Five (yes, I bought it) and we learn something more about Christian. I am looking forward to reading both Book Five AND the story that comes out of Christian's secret!
