| We begin in December 1992. A fateful night with a total lunar eclipse. Ross Sherman, a proof-reader in a law firm in Milwaukee, tells us his story, and does he draw you in. In the seconds it takes his life to change, from euphoria to horror, you can feel yourself right there with him, experiencing everything. Unbelievable but true.
This story is written with humor and with finesse. The description of Ross going through his change was so vivid; the thoughts that replay in his head from his childhood and his thoughts on his dissatisfaction with his mortal life. After the initial horror, he realizes the lure and appeal in leaving that life and becoming a vampire. I enjoyed reading this surprising story in which the vampires have feelings of insecurity, fear, jealousy; all characteristics not depicted in every vampire story, and then a vampire orgyso decadent. This story is well written and very absorbing; I have to admit that I couldnt put it down. It was fascinating to read a bit of the vampires past lives, not that it hasnt been done before, but the weaving of certain historical events into the vampires past, made this reading very intriguing. For vampire fans, definitely an author to keep an eye on.
