Narcissus is a statue and has been for hundreds of years. First he upset the goddess Aphrodite by refusing to make love to her nymph Nemesis and when she decided he would fall in love with the first person he saw he caught a glimpse of himself in the pond and fell in love with his own reflection. He was so in love with the reflection he couldn't eat and wasted away and died and his spirit floated for years, until Aphrodite had a sculptor made a statue so lifelike that his spirit was captured within the sculpture. For hundreds of years he has watched life go by and listened to the people.

Then one day a young girl looked up at him and called him "Nick" and claimed him as her own personal friend. The years would go by and this girl would come and tell Nick of everything that had been happening to her, good and the bad. Nick listened when her parents were killed; Nick was there when her cat got out of her house and was killed. Now Violet Smith is there to tell Nick about being dumped by her lousy boyfriend Gary.

Nick knows that Violet has been hurt and over the years he has come to care very much for her and wants to help her. He asks Aphrodite if he can become human to learn to love and have sex, since he is a virgin and died before he ever knew the joys of sexuality. Aphrodite grants him his wish he will have two nights and one day to be with his lady and learn the joys of having and being with the one you love.

Nick wastes no time and convinces Violet he is who he says he is and things start to get interesting. Violet finds Nick's innocence beautiful and his willingness to learn and make sure she is always cared for is beautiful. It doesn't take long before both of them realize that two nights in not nearly going to be enough. Enter Nick's old enemy Nemesis named Nina. She has swung a deal with Aphrodite - if Nick makes love to her and satisfies her he will remain human. Nick has no desire to be with anyone but Violet but is willing to do anything to be human so they can be together. What will be the cost and are Nick and Violet willing to pay the costs to be together forever?

This is a beautifully written new take on some very old Greek myths. I always thought Narcissus was punished harshly and very permanently for being a very young, foolish man. It is a beautiful and wondrous experience to see him find his true love and grow into a very giving and caring man. The love and sex between Violet and Nick is beautiful intense and so yummy that you will be panting for more. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful story and highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good love story.
