| This is the stand-alone-third of a series. I haven't read any of her Obreon books although I want to after reading this one. Sound of A Voice That is Still has romance, multiple plots, the paranormal, humor, friendship, and a couple of on-going mysteries, so it has something for almost every reader. This book is primarily about Siobhan and Ryan and how they learn more about themselves, each other and love but it also skillfull combines the lives of relatives and friends in the small town of Oberon, California.
Siobhan has survived a tragedy that might crush anyone, but she has choosen to live her life devoid of emotion. She will not love anyone else because she does not deserve to love or be loved. P.G. Forte does not dump this on the reader on page one. You learn this very gradually as you get to know Siobhan and you get to know her through her interactions with others. Since the deaths of her husband and twin daughters, she has gone through the motions of life. Only the wildlife rescue center she recently opened gives her life purpose. Ryan Henderson is a police officer who has been injured in the line duty and while he is forced to wait for full recovery to return to duty, he is having his own struggles. What if he never can go back to work? He struggles daily with pain and worries about addiction. While waiting, he wonders what can he do to fill in the time? After meeting Siobhan, he decides to spend time with her. When he finds out about Siobhan's marine rescue center, he volunteers. As Siobhan and Ryan get to know each other, both face more challenges. It becomes more difficult for Siobhan to avoid actual feelings for Ryan. And Ryan begins to wonder what is behind that wall. Then there is the mysterious things happening to her. Can someone be stalking her? As I said, this book has something for almost every reader. I thoroughly enjoyed the character development and the surprise ending. You will too. Hurry and pick up your copy soon so you, too, will know the surprise.
