| Janie Dupree was the maid of honor in a wedding doomed from the start. Her best friend Docia was getting married to the love of her life. We met Docia and Cal in book one of the series. Janie promised to insure the wedding was perfect. Janie was raised in the small town of Konigsburg, Texas, and she still lived with her mother. She was dating the high school football star, now the coach of the team. Her mother was positive this man was her destiny. Otto was obnoxious and overbearing. He was determined to stake his claim on her so the visitors in town would know she wasn’t available.
Pete Toleffson was assistant Polk County attorney in Des Moines. His job was so stressful it was making him sick. He never took time off for a vacation. He was forced to take a week off to be best man at his brother’s wedding. He had trouble leaving work problems to others. He ended up dog sitting for Cal, fending off his sister-in-law’s intent to sabotage the wedding, and being liaison with his overbearing mother and an estranged older brother. The attraction to the maid of honor was uncanny. Ms. Benjamin has, once again, written a winner. This second book in the series was, if possible, even better than the first. She told the beautiful story of Janie and Pete while extending book one’s upcoming wedding. The way she meshed the two storylines together was wonderful. This book introduced a myriad of characters but the number did not add confusion to the plot. Each person was believable. There were several sub-plots (love stories) intertwined. The entire compilation worked so well. The problems encountered were so real it was as if I was personally involved. I loved the flow of this book. I had trouble putting it down. It had sensuality which was electric. The ending of the book was another surprise in this book of constant shocking revelations. I highly recommend this book. Read them in order. I hope there will be other books to explore the other brothers and townsfolk.
