|After calling off her wedding, Sydney Garfield plans on selling her wedding dress. When she arrives at a store to do just that, she finds herself asking for a job there especially when she runs into the man she was supposed to marry in the shop because he's baffled by her sudden change of heart and wants to know the reason why she's suddenly given him the flick.
Jack Kaiser doesn't know what's wrong with Sydney but he plans on finding out even if he has to invest in a coffee shop in the town she's moved to in order to learn the truth. Once he learns the source of her problems, he plans to find a way to win her back.
For the first book in this series, this novel was incredible. It was innovative in the way that Sydney was going through a crisis, almost reminding me of a mid-life crisis, even though she wasn't that old. The plot was well-written and so were the characters, both the main and secondary ones. Sydney as the scared runaway to avoid arising problems from her past due to a case she worked as a divorce lawyer while Jack chased her down hoping to learn what her deal was. Why was she running scared when he was there to protect her? The strong dialogue revealed how real the situation Sydney found herself in and could just as easily happen in real life. The sex scenes were steamy and it was good to see that Sydney and Jack found their way back to each other as they deserved a happy ever after since enduring a rough patch like Sydney had. What I liked so much about Sydney was her ability to get on with life considering what had happened in the past with one of her cases. While with Jack, I liked that he didn't give up on Sydney, even though she gave him plenty of reasons to walk away from what they had.
Overall, I would recommend this book to all romance readers and I can't wait until the next one is released.
